Sometimes purchasing property is not as straightforward as simply finding a property that you
like and then buying it. Sometimes we need some assistance from family and/or friends.
Perhaps you have been thinking about:
Building a dwelling on a block of land……that belongs to a family member.
Buying a house with your best friend……for the two of you to live in.
Buying a property for yourself……but with the assistance of your parents.
Ideas like these – or variations of them – all have the potential to work out.
These ideas also contain varying layers of legal complexity, the ramifications of which the parties
involved often do not fully appreciate.
You should always get legal advice if you are thinking about buying property.
You should absolutely get legal advice if you are thinking about buying property with someone
else.
Newspapers and social media are full of cautionary tales about people who have bought property
with family and/or friends and then things haven't gone to plan. At Lucas & Lucas, we can help you to not be one them.
